![]() I opened it up and I can hear the hissing but havent got right inside it yet. The 2nd machine appears to have the same problem. There was quite a bit of corrosion on the inside of the machine, rusted bits here and there but it was pretty simple to get to and just required some force to get the hex bolts undone, but not too much. That seems to have sorted the problem out. I replaced the boiler gasket and turned it back on only to find the gasket or o ring at the top of the boiler was also gone, so replaced that. When I opened it up I found that the steam boiler had a leak, when the water hit the boiler it turned to steam and condensation formed all over the inside of the machine. The previous owner said the dials steamed up and that water dripped from out of the machine. I pulled mine apart, thanks to a picture guide posted on this forum.I can paste the link as I am a newbie. I figured I had nothing to lose by having a go but I must state I am a total novice. I have just been given two of these machines, probably for much the same reason you put yours away. Avoid at all costs - there are MUCH better machines out there for this kind of money. When pushed, just out of warranty I was given a partial refund but $650 back from a $1295 machine burns a bit. The poor performance I feel shouldnt reflect badly on Peter Mcinnes who are primarily a Kitchenaid agent and we understand that this is not a native Kitchenaid product. In use, the machine produced reasonable coffee but the steam production was a bit anaemic. Peter Mcinnes picked it up and took it back to Sydney for inspection and found that their repairer hadnt fastened one of the power wires back on correctly - you have to ask what exactly they were testing for a week… THe machine spent 2 1/2 weeks with the repairer again and when it returned the steam boiler didnt work at all. This was followed up with similar leakage issues as before. It lasted in this way for about another 10 months before the steam gauge died completely. Eventually the machine shorted with a good bang! It spent two weeks with the auth repairer in Brisbane and came back ok. Id only owned it for 8 months when the gauges steamed up and the steam dial started to leak. I owned one for just over two years and last week gained a partial refund from Peter Mcinnes. Please include a daytime phone number.I cant possible recommend this machine. It turned out that the machine you returned is no longer being made and it had offered you £300-worth of vouchers. KitchenAid, however, has been more forthcoming. ![]() The Consumer Rights Act could not be clearer and I pointed this out to Harts of Stur, but have had no response. In your shoes I would have sent it back to the retailer as, despite what stores are increasingly telling consumers, the contract is between them and the consumer, rather than the manufacturer. The KitchenAid Trustpilot page suggests that we are far from being alone in feeling let down. Harts of Stur has also said that it is not obliged to offer a replacement. At this stage, I really don’t think this company is at all committed to resolving this. Seven months later, we have no coffee machine, or any financial recompense. It called KitchenAid on more than one occasion, only to get promises that action was imminent, which, again, never materialised. This went on for months, until I contacted Harts of Stur to see if it could help. Sometimes I would get a call back informing us that, due to post-Brexit difficulties, there were issues with sending us the promised replacement. However, after that, there was no contact unless I called or emailed. We tracked the shipment to ensure the machine was received safely. We did, and it said we should send the machine to its Belgium site and that it would send us a replacement by return, as it would not be attempting a repair.
